Appointment Information & FAQs

When you book an assessment or consultation session at Ellipsis Psychology we aim to make the process of scheduling and attending your appointments as easy as possible.

Please take the time to read through the information below so that you are familiar with the process of appointments, cancellation and the payments of fees. If you have any questions, please contact us.

Client Registration

To engage with our service, we ask that you to complete the Client Registration Form prior to your first appointment, which includes:

  • Client Details & Information

  • Payment Type (e.g., Self-funded or Medicare)

  • Consent & Confidentiality Agreement

  • Emergency Contact

  • Cancellation Policy.

Please send any relevant paperwork to us PRIOR to your first appointment, including:

  • Referral letters from you or your child’s GP, paediatrician, or psychiatrist and/ or your child’s school

  • Any Medicare paperwork relating to treatment plans

  • Helping Children with Autism/ Better Start for Children with Disabilities

  • Share with us any reports from other health professionals for example, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, psychologists, counsellors or teachers.

Referral & Rebates

A referral from your GP is not required, however, if you wish to claim a Medicare rebate, or from your private health insurer please check your eligibility to claim prior to engaging with our service to ensure that you know what your policy limits are, and what your insurer may pay.

Please note that you cannot claim a Medicare rebate as well as a benefit from your private health insurer.

Psychology Consultation Session Fees

Australian Psychological Society (APS) National Schedule of Recommended Fees 2025 – 26 recommends a standard 46 to 60 minute consultation fee of $318.

At Ellipsis Psychology our current standard consultation fee is $259 per 50 minutes or $413 per 80 minutes.

Assessment Fees

At Ellipsis Psychology we will take the time to determine the most appropriate assessments for you based upon your needs or the needs of your child and the referral information received.

Assessments fees will be quoted, if the quote is accepted by you, the assessment sessions will be booked and a 50% deposit of the total assessment fee is due when the initial booking is made, please see below for a cost indication of the assessments offered:

- Cognitive Assessment for Children/ Adults from $1,435

- Assessment of Intellectual Development for Children from $1,845

- Psycho-Educational Assessment for Children from $2,350

- ADHD Assessment for Children/ Adults from $2,065

Once you have made your first appointment, you will receive a confirmation email with the fee schedule stated.

Late Arrivals

If you are late to arrive for your session, the session will run to the time that was booked. Hourly-rates apply for sessions running overtime (e.g., 15 minutes), please be assured that session will not run overtime without your consent.

Cancellation Policy

At Ellipses Psychology we understand that sometimes life gets in the way. You can cancel your appointment with us at any time, however, we ask that you provide a minimum of 24 hours-notice for a standard consultation and 48 hours notice for assessment sessions.

If you do not attend, or you cancel your appointment without providing the requested notice, you will be charged the full session fee. Please note that neither Medicare nor the Private Health Insurance providers will provide rebates or payments for cancelled or missed appointments.

How to Cancel Your Appointment

If you need to cancel your appointment please call us on 0493 334 972. If we are unable to answer the call please leave a detailed message and we will call you back to reschedule your appointment. You can also email us at connect@ellipsispsychology.com.au . We will return your call, or respond to your email as soon as possible.

Eligibility for Medicare Rebates

To access Medicare rebates for psychology consultation sessions, you will need a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHCP) from your GP, psychiatrist or from your child’s paediatrician.

Under a MHCP you can claim up to 10 individual and 10 group sessions with a psychologist per calendar year. Initially your GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician will refer you or your child for up to 6 psychology sessions at a time. If you need additional sessions, your doctor will decide if they can refer you for further sessions.

2025-26 Medicare Rebate Amounts

Registered Psychologist (General Psychologist): $98.95 per 50 minute consultation session, a gap payment of $160. 05 is due at the conclusion of every consultation session.

How to Claim

Please ensure you have a referral from your GP (or other eligible medical practitioner) prior to booking your initial psychology session with us.

The psychologist will process the claim electronically at the end of your consultation. Please note that we do not bulk-bill.

Private Health Insurance Claims

When you make your psychology session booking with us you will be required to pay the standard consultation fee in full (if the Cancellation Policy does not apply). Once the session has been completed your account will be charged with the session fee and an invoice as receipt of payment will be forwarded to your email address. Once you have received the invoice, you will be able to lodge your claim with your health insurer.

Most health insurance providers in Australia require psychologists to be registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Medicare.

At Ellipsis Psychology our psychologists are registered with AHPRA, Medicare and the Psychology Board of Australia, they are listed on the AHPRA website. We recommend that prior to booking a psychology consultation session or assessment with us that you confirm with your health insurer that the psychologist you wish to book with meets their registration requirements.

Psychological Assessments and Reports are charged separately and do not attract Medicare rebates.

Fee Payment

Available payment options include: Direct Debit, Mastercard, or Visa. All card payments are subject to a transaction fee.
